Reviews Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer MODEL# TAT-2000C

We have used this Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer MODEL# TAT-2000C product for both our son, and now our daughter. It allows us to check temperature when they are sleeping without waking them up. We have found it to be very accurate and the night light is a great feature when sneaking around their bedroom.
Baby Thermometers THE Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer MODEL# TAT-2000C
This Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer has been a life saver, it is VERY accurate and she doesn't mind it one bit. We also love that is uses a simple 9v battery instead of little expensive batteries. " I'm an ER nurse and we use temporal artery thermometers in our ER. They are much more accurate than underarm or in the ear, although the gold standard is a rectal temperature, which can be upsetting to children." Would be a great baby shower gift.
  • Silver Ion Antimicrobial Head - destroys bacteria, mold, mildew and fungi... naturally and safely - Probe covers not required
  • Method of choice of premier hospitals
  • Gentle stroke of forehead captures naturally emitted heat from skin over temporal artery
  • Arterial Heat Balance computes the correct temperature
  • Safe and easy to use for all ages
It's a simple procedure, with practice. We've learned to make four passes: each half of the forehead (middle to near-ear, tracing a "shallow wavy line" to make sure we're catching the right spots), and firmly pressed in the hollow under each ear lobe (after "airing it out" for 30s to avoid heat trapped by long hair, pillows, etc.).

Remember to give a previously-probed area at least a half-minute or so to "recover" if you want to probe it again the probe will have slightly cooled the skin. If temp readings start to look erratic, try wiping the lens area (especially the shiny cone) with soft cloth slightly dampened with alcohol. Skin oil can film over the works and distort readings.

We found that multiple erratic and "ERR" readings meant it was time to change the battery. (Hold it door-side up, probe-end facing you: Firmly push door ridges away from you with your thumbs.) I tell the kid, "Here comes the magic probe!," make beeping robot noises, and show him/her each reading. A beeper-off switch for the benefit of acutely sensitive ears (or lightly sleeping babies) would be helpful.

We've had the Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer MODEL# TAT-2000C model for a couple of months now. The learning curve was not very steep at all, and the accuracy and consistency is excellent IMO. Couldn't be more pleased. This will be our thermometer of choice for ALL family members going forward.
